Often, thinking of the Maremma, the standard dishes of our tradition come to mind: tortello with wild boar ragout (or pappardelle), acquacotta and its many variations, cheeses, cured meats, and excellent desserts: the cavallucci, the Schiaccia di Pasqua, the frittelle …

Not to mention the excellent wine produced in this splendid region

But there are some restaurants, 5 to be precise, that take the raw materials of our territory, and make them sublime, experimental, gourmet!

Let’s start immediately with our beautiful promontory.

At Monte Argentario, loved by royalty from all over the world and the big stars of the show, the Hotel Il Pellicano, with its chef Michelino Gioia, offers you a sophisticated menu that has earned a Michelin Star by combining fresh ingredients from both land and of sea.

We move to Castiglione della Pescaia, about an hour from Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole for another restaurant that has earned a Michelin Star. Enrico Bartolini’s La Trattoria Restaurant is part of the Enrico Bartolini restaurant chain which, in addition to Tuscany, is located in Venice, Milan and Hong Kong and Dubai.

As the website of our third starred restaurant mentions, “Expanses of woods and olive trees accompany the eye towards Seggiano … where once the tavern of the post station gave refreshment to wayfarers on the way, today rises the Silene of Roberto Rossi”. A Michelin star also for this place where raw materials and tradition meet the avant-garde.

In Ghirlanda, in the province of Grosseto, we find the Bracali restaurant which boasts 2 Michelin stars as well as 1 medal – 5 forks of the Touring Club, score 17.5 for the Espresso Guides and a score of 85 for the Gambero Rosso.

Finally the Caino restaurant in Montemerano, last but not least. And it is really the case to say it since from osteria of Maremma, also here we can boast the 2 Michelin stars thanks to the Chef Valentina Piccini.
